Professor Chris Baggoley

Professor Chris Baggoley AO was appointed to the role of Chief Medical Advisor to Calvary Healthcare in May 2018. The former Australian Government Chief Medical Officer is a respected clinician with a national reputation in the field of emergency medicine and has also made a significant contribution in progressing Australia’s response to communicable diseases and early diagnosis of non-communicable diseases such as cancer.
Professor Baggoley was the Chief Executive for the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare, a past President of the Australian College for Emergency Medicine and Chair of the Committee of Presidents of Medical Colleges. Most recently he was the Executive Director Medical Services for Southern Adelaide Local Health District, South Australia. Having completed a degree in veterinary science Professor Baggoley decided on making his career in human healthcare, enrolling in the Flinders University medical program in 1974.
